Meet Twiglet, she’s lovely!

April 9th, 2008

A little bird, he told me so
He said come on, get on the go
Open your eyes the sky is full of butterflies
The blossoms on the trees stir up the honey bees
Spring makes my fever right!!!!

Oh Elvis, I wish you were still here so we could do a duet on that one. We’d make such a musical team…

Yap Yap! Fifi fans! It’s been so long since I updated this blog, I’m so sorry it’s just that, er, trying to find an excuse but… er, those humans. Humans fault probably. Anyhow I’m back! And isn’t it just brilliant that the sun has finally come out! Yeeeeeeharrrrrrrrr I love it, i’m in Hyde Park every evening now, me and Mark the maltese scamper around the grass sniffing around, playing, getting to meet the other dogs, and there are the most wonderful collection of dogs in Hyde Park, Sally the sausage dog and I were saying just the other day what a wonderful array of pedegrees there are.

Right, lets get on with the show, lets get it on the road, and lets meet Twiglet the fellow Chihuahua!

Full name: Twiglet “Twiggy” Francis-Holmes
Age: 2 Human years
Breed: Chihuahua
Likes: Sunbathing, Chicken, Walks, Being Cute and Spoilt
Dislikes: Cold, Rain, People who don’t like little doggies
Favourite place to sleep: Snuggled In mummy’s bed or curled up on a lap

Hey Twiglet, you are gorgeous Chihuahua like me, I love to meet other glam pooches, do you get a lot of attention whilst out and about?
Oh yes! I get lots of attention when out and about especially when im out with my other Chihuahua friends a lot of people come over to say hello and look at us, about a year ago I won a pet idol contest and was in the newspaper, I love to have my picture taken and sometimes get to model clothes and accessories for my mum’s website, I love it when all the attention is on me! :D

Do you like to wear clothes or prefer to run around in the nakey?
I like to wear clothes when it’s cold, my mummy runs online pet boutique www.e-pawz.co.uk which means I always get to wear the latest in designer clothes and sparkly collars.

Can you tell our readers, where do you live an why?
I live in Hertfordshire, England because my mummy brought me here from Essex where im originally from, I love it though there are lots of parks and shops and we are super close to London and means we can goto lots of chi and toy breed meetups which is fab!

Tell us about your name, how did you get to be called Twiglet?

Well I was called Dixie when I was a baby and my friend was called Twiglet which is the name I always responded to, so I thought it was my name, my mummy and daddy liked it so much they called me Twiglet when they brought me home. Now I have lots of nicknames like Twig, Twiggy and Little Miss T.

Ever thought of entering the shows?
Not really, I don’t really have time, too busy socialising with my doggie friends at the weekends, I have been to a few but id rather lay on the grass and soak up the sun.

Do you have a boyfriend, and what breed of boys do you like?
I enjoy being young free and single, I only really like Chihuahua boys ;D

ham sandwich or bone??
Tough one, ham tends to repeat on me, so I would have to say BONE! (preferably Lamb)

What is your perfect day?
Would be a chill out day, get up, climb into bed with mummy for an hour, get up again go to the park, come back chase Smokey (my brother who’s a cat) for a while, have lunch, have a nap, then mummy would take me to see my Chi friends we’d play for a few hours, come home and sleeeep

Do you have a message for The Pet Poets Club?
I would just like to say thank you for taking the time to read my interview, if you would like to see more of me and my friends you can find us at my mummy’s website www.e-pawz.co.uk you can also contact me via there ;) I love your blog Fifi, my mum reads it to me every week,

Gracy, graces us with her wonderfulness!

January 14th, 2008

Happy New Year! Puppy people, hasn’t it been great, all Christmassy, new yeary, snowy, and for me - beery! I have to tell you, some human person let me try beer for the first time. I can’t say I like it as much as that Homer Simpson appears too but it tastes very nice and makes you feel all giddy! Bring on the champers though anyday, I’m paying the price though and having to do a few more laps around the park now as I had my fair share of the old turkey as well. Yum though, turkey is yummy. (It gave me a little tummy-boo). Awful business, just awful, luckily I got loads of doggy hoodies for Christmas for trotting around the park in, I look so glam in them I’ve had a few admiring looks while out in Hyde Park on my morning run. There’s this hot chihuahua boy in the park called Shaun. He was sniffing around last Tuesday and again on Sunday, he’s one hot dog, I’m even thinking he’s hotter than Mark the maltese… obviously a girls gotta stay cool and it wouldn’t do any harm to have more than one hotty sniffing around!

Kobe Beef carpaccio, foie gras anyone? Yah please!!! I’ll bit your hand off for some. Makes the turkey and beer seem a little bit oafish, a bit homeresque. I I’ve been meaning to put up this fab interview for a bit, but I’ve had a bit of a queue of lovely guests, so It’s been a while since we met, she’s so glam though, get comfy on some fine cashmire scarf of your mummy’s and meet Grace Kelly Poughkeepsie McGough Barber! She’s divine!…..

Full name: Grace Kelly Poughkeepsie McGough Barber
Age: A lady never says
Breed: Chihuahua
Likes: Diamonds, fine dining, sapphires, sassy walks on the beach, emeralds,
your (Fifi’s) tiara (Love her)
Dislikes: Knock offs, fakes, poor quality (that goes for jewels, puppies,
and people)
Favourite place to sleep: Inside Mum’s sweaters or pockets, otherwise 800
plus thread count anywhere
Favourite food: Foie gras (cooked through not seared), organic kibble, Kobe steaks (seared not cooked through),bully sticks

Gracie, we’ve met over my space and you were the Pet Poets Club’s 16001 member. Congratulations! And welcome to our gang, how does it feel to be so darn special?
I’m honored to be a member, the PPC is doing good for animals all over the world. We finally have a voice. As to feeling “special,” some of us are blessed with more and therefore have a greater burden than others. I believe it was Frank Lloyd Wright who said he had to choose between hypocritical modesty and honest arrogance. Or some such silliness.

You are a tiny teenie pocket sized Chihuahua, there is a picture of you with a toilet roll and it is bigger than you! How big are you now in mm??
Oh, that picture is JUST dreadful! By a toilet roll! Oh the shame! Mummy loves it though. I’m just over 220 mm now, and the toilet roll is about 127 mm - so I’m finally taller. Can you imagine? What if I took Mum’s picture by a puppy wee pad? Like the pairing was just too cute for words?

Where do you live and why? Can you give our English readers a flavour of your lifestyle?
I live in sunny southern California, USA in a beautiful Mediterranean style home in Orange County, not far from the ocean and very near the heart of OC shopping. I used to live in Los Angeles, but the hustle and bustle of the city was getting to me, so I decided to find a place more calmly luxurious. My lifestyle is a healthy blend of self-indulgence and “giving back.” I love to walk, run and ride near the water and in our gated community. After that, I usually dash off to Fashion Island or South Coast Plaza with Jennifer, my Mum. Later in a typical day, I like to
fit in some charity work (often working on the socialization skills of Chanel, a pretty and uptight tiny Pomeranian I know). Finally, I usually unwind with a light white (a Pinot Gris, perhaps), and a bite or two of softened organic kibble. I like to refer to it as resort chic - or affluent, but responsible.

(Fifi: I love her)

What is your perfect day?
I do think I hit most of the highlights up there in “Q3,” but perhaps I’ll stretch my legs a little and elaborate. After a little a.m. (not much “a” left in the “am,” if you sense my meaning) bite of organic and hand moistened breakie, mummy and I head off to a delightful little Bikram yoga “hut” and greet the mid-day with a rousing sweat, err, perspiration. (I do try to avoid irritation when the annoyingly perky and limber blond calls for “downward dog.”). Then a double, decaf, or half-caf (if I had a spot too much of the white the night before), almond truffle, mochiatta, inverted, latte made with virgin Yak’s milk, on the way home. After a dip in the lap pool, a quick check of email on my paws-enabled PDA, mummy and I “buzz” the mall and see what the buyers have brought in of late. After a late lunch and the first white wine, (shhhhh really, it calms my anxious tendencies), of the day, I like to nap. On cashmere. I work during the late afternoon, posing for photo shoots for mummy’s company (see below). Evenings are just made for walks under the palm trees of the OC, and a final light bite. I like to wrap up my perfect days with a recent film release, a sliver of Kobe beef carpaccio or a bully stick, and then it’s off to sleep.

(Fifi: I want to go round Gracie’s for dinner, yummy!)

If you were to visit me in London, England, I would take you to Regents Park and we would run around frolicking in the lavendar. If I were to visit you, what would we do?
Fifi, the next time I’m in London - I will definitely ring you up. I adore lavendar and it is so good for the spirit! And calming too. (Hmmm, I’ll make a note to perhaps look into lavender infused water to substitute my early light white with lunch to avoid judgmental stares from the fun-have-nots). If you were to visit me, we would combine the juiciest elements of my answers to questions 3 and 4. Oh, yes, and we would also visit the Central Bark, a delightful doggie park in Irvine, CA, with an area just for tiny ones like us. The doggie watching is sensational.

Tell us about your mommies company - Gothic Dog?
Mummy founded a company called Gothic Dog, of which I am the spokesdog and “mascot.” (I prefer Principal Icon.). Mummy’s Gothic Dog company solved a
dilemma for all like minded pups, that is, she has designed doggie pendants with the highest quality metals and gems. They are intended to be worn on your most favorite and yummiest dog collar. She mixes diamonds and sapphires, just to name a few, with gold and silver, in fashion-forward designs that make every pup look his or her very best. Gothic Dog truly sets its wearer apart, and demonstrates its owner’s commitment to ensuring that his or her dog wears only the best. You can visit us at www.gothicdog.com. (And see me modeling my Red Carpet Collar, six carats of perfection in diamonds, on perfection, ahem).

Do you have a message for all you new friends at the Pet Poets Club?
Remember to treat yourself like royalty . . . wear diamonds every chance you get. As mummy always says, “Girl’s best friend for man’s best friend! ,,” Eat off your finest china, drink out of your best crystal, and treat yourself daily! Please come visit me at www.gothicdog.com You can email my mum with questions about custom designs at Jennifer@gothicdog.com or for general questions info@gothicdog.com and a representative will get back to you. To contact me, you probably should email my mum too, my days are so filled I prefer to have her sort through the nonsense and give me the important messages (suitors, sales, and sparklies).

Isn’t she fabulous!!!!! I so want to hang out with Gracy in the lavender, dine on slivers of foir gras, she’d be soo much fun. Thanks so much Gracy, you’re interview is just hilarious and wonderful.

Meet Mollie the Water Skiing-Westie!

December 18th, 2007

"Chestnuts roasting on an open fire,
Jack Frost nipping on your nose,
Yuletide carols being sung by a choir,
And folks dressed up like Eskimos."

I love Christmas!!!! I LOVE turkey, ah ha, turkey rocks and the great thing is, humans don’t like it that much I hear, so there’s more for us dogs! I have a cunning plan though, listen carefully now, come closer. Run around the house in festive excitement sporting your new doggy hoody, yap a lot, run up and down the arm of the sofa, do a forward somersaut dive into the tree, get leg tangled in lights, leap off in panic, bringing the tree down crashing to the floor. Meanwhile, when all humans are fussing over the tree being devilishly close to the fire, leap into the kitchen and take ownership of the turkey. I’m not saying ruin it for everyone, just lick it all over!

C’mon, I only joking guys, I wouldn’t do such a dreadful thing at Christmas time, what kind of chihuahua do you think I am! ;)

Ok ok, back to work, not only did we have a celeb on last weeks Fifi yaps, with Nora the piano cat. This week I’m yapping with Mollie, Mollie the water-skiing westie! And, guess what? She’s sold thousands of calendars of her crashing through the waves, Check her out!

Full name: Mollie Messenger
Age: A lady never discloses her age!
Breed: A water westie
Likes: the outdoor life, the wind in my hair, sea salt and big breakers!
Dislikes: cold winter mornings!
Most famous for: Most famous for: being the star in the Water-ski ing Westies 2008 Calendar!

Hey Mollie! Everyone’s going mad for you right now as Britain’s only all action waterskiing Westie! Could you tell our readers how you got involved in the sport?
I was often taken to the beach to watch the surfers. I knew right away I could do as well and it didn’t take me long to be able to get up on water ski’s, and then I was off with every type of action on the water.

What kind of preparations do you need to do to get on the water?
A good breakfast with my favourite hi carb cereal and chopped banana on top!

(Gosh, sounds like human food to me, bleeeerrgggghhhhhhh. Get me a bowl of tripe anyday!!)

You seem the outdoorsy kind, exactly like me, I love parachuting from planes and bungies and that (BOL!) what other outdoor activities do you like to do?
Oooh..That sounds fab.. I’m in training with Freddie who is my new waterski ing partner , we are booked for a big show next year..who knows if the show goes well on the water, Freddie might be up for parachuting!

(ooooo, what does he look like?)

Being Scottish, or from Scottish roots, do you like to scamp across the moors and take in some fresh air?
The moors are great but give us the chance to waterski down Loch Ness anyday..we have never seen the monster so far. But we do manage to get up to over 80mph on occasions!

If you were to take me out for the day, what would we do and where would we go?
I think Fifi we would take you to the beach. You could sunbath while we get out on the water.

Ever entered or wanted to enter a dog show?
Oh no…Oh no… Sorry we are just not that way inclined. Dog shows are for wimps!

Where do you live and why?
I live in Littlehampton in Sussex. Great for the action on the south coast…

What is your perfect day?
Up early, big breakfast, down to the beach out on the water. Plenty of action before retiring ‘dog tired’

Lamb chop or bone?
Sorry I’m a veggie!

I don’t believe it! A veggie dog? Surely not! Give me the lamb chop any day, well that explains the banana & cereal for breakfast I guess!

Do you have a message for your friends at the pet poets club?
Of course. Have a great Christmas. Roll on the spring!

Do you have a poem for the Pet Poets Club?
It’s so much fun to Waterski
Every dog should give it a go
Don’t worry that you might fall off…
…Just start off nice and slow!

Then when you think you’ve got the knack
Tell the boat it’s time to speed up
And very soon you’ll be riding the waves
As a waterskiing pup!

Well, how about that Fifi fans? Isn’t she a sport!

You can buy the the Water-skiing Westie calendar right here Also, while you’re there, don’t forget to look at the Pet Poets Club calendars with little me inside! at our headquarters The Pet Poets Club we’re having a big sale!

Have a great Chistmas turkey fans! (Don’t forget my devilish advice on monopolising the fowl! And if over Christmas you miss us so much at the Pet Poets Club, just log on to petpoetsclub.com It’s the home of rhythm & Rhyme you know!

She has the talent of no other feline on the planet, she tinkles on the yamaha to wind the day away and this has brought her worldwide fame via YouTube. Sit back grab yourself a chicken chew stick or in my case a packet and read my yap with Nora the piano cat… yap yap chin wag xxxxx

Full name: Nora the Piano Cat
Age: 3 1/2 years
Breed: Domestic Shorthair with a Classic Tabby (bullseye) pattern.
Likes: Playing piano, sitting in the upstairs window, playing with my yellow feather (human on the other end of the string, of course), all the usual cat stuff.
Dislikes: My brother Max. There’s just something about him that rubs my fur the wrong way. And I don’t like to be picked up or petted too much.
YouTube hits to date: Over 7 million combined hits on my videos as of October 30th. And that doesn’t count the hits on iFilm and Metacafe.

Nora, you are world famous for playing the piano, which is amazing as you are a cat. When did you discover you could play the piano?
First let me say how happy I am to meet you, Fifi. It’s real cool to be interviewed by a fellow four-legged. Anyway, I was about a year old when I first sat on the bench like my mom’s students and put my paws on the keys. I started pressing them like I’d seen, and I was so excited to hear the sounds I could make. My mom and dad were upstairs in the bedroom and they came right down to see who was making such beautiful music. Boy, were they surprised it was me doing it.

The video of you playing on YouTube got 4 million hits in 5 months, that’s just amazing! Why do you think you have captured millions of hearts?
Well, I guess it’s cause humans don’t get to see many cats doing what I was doing. There also seems to be a lot of humans out there who really love cats and a lot that love music, too. So, a cat that makes music really strikes a chord. That’s what my mom and dad say, anyway. And I guess they’re right.

Can you tell us, what do you need around you to feel at your most creative?
Really all I need is the piano. I do love to play duets with my mom’s students, but I also love to play when no one else is around. I just play whenever I’m in the mood - which is pretty often.

No one know’s this Nora, and I have to say it’s been a secret up until now. But I am in fact fairly good with the old electric guitar. I
know I know, I’m a dog but I play a mean Stairway to Heaven. What is your party trick, and what is your favourite song you like to play?

I guess your secret is out now, Fifi. :-) I don’t know if I have a party trick, as you put it. I just enjoy making music so much, and I guess I look really cute when I’m doing it, cause the humans really fuss over me and they clap their hands and laugh and tell me what a good girl I am. As far as a favorite song, I do like to play along when my mom or her students play Bach. But I like a lot of songs. The most fun thing for me, though, is to make up songs by myself. My mom says I’m her little composer, and my dad says I’m awesome. And he’s always telling me how proud he is of me. That’s pretty cool, don’t you think?

Your story is a rags to riches one. You were discovered in a shelter as a kitten and brought home to your new mummy who is a piano teacher. Not too diss-imilar to that of stars such as Elvis and Paul McCartney and Christina Aguilera. Do you think your humble roots have helped you become the star that you are?
Hmmm…well I may have had humble roots, Fifi, but I really feel I was meant to be a star. Some humans have called me a Diva, and I guess maybe I am. But really I’m just a cat who wants to be the best at being whatever I can be. My dad says I’ve “redefined what cats are capable of.” That’s cool. I hope I can inspire other animals to explore their own creative spirit. Bottom line? I love the piano and making music. It’s who I am. That I’m also a cat…well, that’s just how it tuned out this time around.

How has your life changed since your fame?
For one thing, I get a lot more attention. And I get treats more often. But really I still lead a pretty normal life. I sleep a lot. I have a favorite chair to sleep in, a window ledge to watch the outside world, and I have my siblings - some of whom I avoid, like Max. And others like Rennie that I play with when the mood strikes. I think my fame has affected my mom and dad more than me, really. They call themselves my “personal assistants.” They do the really hard work. I just have fun!

What do you like to do when you are not tinkering away at the piano? What is your puuurrrrfect day?
Other than sleeping? :-) I guess a perfect day is pretty much everyday for me. I get up whenever I want. Eat as much as I want. Lay in the sun. Stare out the window and daydream. And of course, the perfect end to any day is curling up next to my mom on the bed.

You have a single and a dvd out where the proceeds go to help cats in shelters. It’s great that you are helping other cats get into the music business. Could you tell our readers about this?
Sure. I’d love to. There’s these two guys, Skip and Dana, from Laurel Canyon Animal Company. They took my piano playing from one of my videos and they wrote a song around it. It’s called “Nora’s Song,” and it has drums and bass and keyboards and vocals. It’s really cool. Anyway, they put the song on a CD of cat-themed songs they created called “Cat On The Keys.” My song is the main one. And my picture is on the front. Here’s the best part: $2 from each CD is being given in my name to a place called Best Friends Animal Society. It’s a place that helps animals all over the world. I’m very happy my fame can help others who need to be cared for and to find a loving home - especially if it’s not my home (I have too many brothers and sisters as it is.) :-).

Who would you rather duet with Elton John or Barry Manalo?
Well, Fifi, I hope you won’t think I’m being rude if I don’t pick either one. You see, the human I’d really like to play a duet with is Billy Joel. I mean, he’s the piano man and I’m the piano cat. It doesn’t get more purr-fect than that!

Do you have a message for your friends at the Pet Poets Club?
Dare to dream and act on those dreams no matter whether you have four legs or two. And never define yourself by others expectations of what you are capable of. To all of my fellow cats (and dogs) out there, remember it’s the paws between the notes that make the music.

Do you have a poem for the Pet Poets Club? (Check it out, she’s a poet as well)
There’s a cat who loves to play the piano
A cat who has fun at the keys
She sits on the bench and goes plink, plink, plink
Have you guessed that the cat is me?

My name is Nora and I really like Bach
But I also love to make up a song
If you’d like to sit down and tickle the keys
I’d be happy to play right along.

Well, how about that Fifi fans ?Just like you and me isn’t she, no aires & graces like some famous pets. (yes you know who I’m talking about Hilton) It was such a pleasure to meet Nora, thanks so much for your time Nora and good luck for album and dvd, clothes line and perfume and sports range etc.

You can check out Nora on You Tube Also, while you there, don’t forget to look at our very own Dogfather, Pugsy Malone, he’s so frightfully handsome The Dogfather

and also check Nora out at www.ravenswingstudio.com and you can help cats everywhere by buying her CD at the Laurel Canyon Animal Company

Now, a treat for you next week, I may be talking to Mollie the famous waterskiing westie! She’s so darn sporty.
